Book review: The Time Traveller's Wife

The word 'enchanting' is printed on the back of the book to describe it. I think it is more than enchanting. More like "magical"?

Who doesn't want to time-travel? The story tells of how the time-traveller's wife and the protagonist brave through the agonies to find each other.

The dates in the story seem to be quite confusing but its much easier to just look at the age indicated.

And I like books that end off with a running theme to the introduction. Simply great literary skills used.

8th book of the year. The deadline for 30 books seem further away from me. Need to speed up.

Notice that i have been reading romance books. Need to change a bit of taste.

First week of Studies....

The last lecturer of the week turns out great. The whole array of lecturers are fantastic this year!

Totally great to have such great lecturers to impart their knowledge with us.

The books for this term seem to be triple of the amount of books last semester. Looks like quite a hefty amount is going to be spent on them. But then again, who can measure the cost of knowledge?

Might need to consider other avenues to get the books.

Was telling Wenz that this new phase of schooling is making my body react badly. My body is totally not able to react to punctuality. I am often late and stuff. Its not healthy. Need to stick to the timing!

Went blading yesterday, and (YESH!) i can still blade quite well. :)

Lots of pictures, no time to post.

The first few days in school

The week has not ended yet, but i have attended my first 3 lessons for my UOL course. The lecturers are interesting and the topic is exciting. Looking forward to this year of mugging and study fest.

The last lesson for this week is going to be taught by this Irish lecturer that has a particularly LOOoonngggg title after his name. He almost missed a PHD to fill in all the titles. Will post about my encounter in his lessons after this friday.

I can't help it but to say that i really look forward to studying hard for this year. It sounds crazy, but i miss studying.

I miss the cold embrace of the books.

I miss the boring topics.

And i miss the crap food i have to eat while mugging.

i just gave my k800i Sony Ericsson phone to the service centre as it keeps failing on me. The customer service personnel there told me that i could either get it on this Sunday, or on October 2nd due to renovation plans for the place.

i pray that its on this Sunday.

If i don't have your number on my temporary phone, do forgive me, cause my temporary phone is not able to read ALL the numbers stored in it.

My teaching at Rulang Primary School ended last friday, but i only managed to handover successfully yesterday. So i got around with Ray(with his camera) to snap some pictures of the teachers that gave me some lovely memories.

Hope he remember to email them to me. Some classes even managed to give me some cards and well-wishings on that day too!

Will miss the school students. And the staff there.

Quickie post

Just came back from a dinner celebration for Dad.

His birthday falls on today, and he is willing to splurge on the dinner as its his treat to the family members.

Finally!

He is a miser in all forms, but since its a "once-in-a-year" event, he is just willing to fork it out.

I am glad that work as trainer is ending and one class even applauded me for my efforts for teaching them. Touching as it may be, i just 'shooed' the class and hope that they can finish and round up their work ASAP. Only 2 groups out of 6 have finished their work. It is disappointing to see this but i hope that the students have learnt something out of these lessons.

And some students even gave me my long-overdue 'Teachers' Day' present!

Will post the pictures of the presents soon.

Movie Review: Ratatouille

Who really wants to watch a rat cooking food? This is a crazy concept, but the whole storyline turns out expectantly nice.

The way the tastes are described is very nice as it tries to do it colour and shapes. And the running theme is carefully played as it finally shows in the end.

This show is worth watching and kids will enjoy it too.

But do note that some words are too difficult for the children to understand. So just let the kids enjoy the action packed animation~

Book review: The Ex-Boyfriend's Handbook

Witty book.

Tickles me when i read the book. Its about a guy that has been so comfortable with his girlfriend that he is ditched as he seems to have lost his touch in making girls attracted to him.

So what does he do?

Check out his handbook.

It is a fun story and has a romantic parts in it too!
