Greetings to everyone!!
It has been exactly 2 weeks since i blogged. My hands itch...
it has been a busy two weeks for me as i had a 8-days of Field Camp at Pulau Tekong.
4 Days of PFC
&
4 Days of Exercise "Dig alot"
Total outcome: Absolutely Shag out!
For platoon field camp, i was the GPMG(General Purpose Machine Gun) assistant. For those who are well versed with the military background, this is a *freaking* tiring position. I have to carry a load of GPMG tripod that weights 12kg.
*Whao*
And the areas of responsibilies that i have to do are to:
-Run with the Tripod on my back.
-Walk with the Tripod with my Field Pack (10kg)
-Set up the Tripod
-Secure the Tripod
-Live with the Tripod
Fortunately, the Tripod doesn't stayed with me long. I got it for Half-a-Day.
*phew*
For the rest of the Platoon Field Camp, i was shagged out from the Tripod. Hence, didn't do much...
Then from there, we proceed on with Exercise "Dig-a-lot". A 4-Day 3-Night activity where we dig and dig and dig shell-scraps and Fire trenches.
Note the part about "Digging".
we dig through the night. After we eat, we dig. After we nap, we dig. Thats all we do!
Dig!
I had to dig a *freaking* big hole as i was assuming the role of Medic during the Exercise.
How big?
2 Metres depth and 4 metres in Length and 2 metres in width.
Some how, i suspect that i have been jinxed to assume the difficult roles in the whole Field Camp...
After a tedious 2 days of Post Administration for the Field Camp...
We have a break!
For we got to go to Bukit Chandu and the Serimbum Beach.

The "Self Guided Tour of The Fall Of Singapore".
Contains a totally flooded with Information on the Fall of Singapore.

Lt Luqman (Our Platoon's PC) giving his talk on Serimbum Beach. He is the one weearing white with the back facing the camera. Do you know that this was the first point of contact between Singapore Forces against Japanese Invading forces?

More of Lt Luqman explaining... The beach actually can be easily protected by just pouring oil/petrol to stop the Japanese from riding their sampans over the river...

The platoon REALLY listening hard...

And the very last picture of Lt Luqman explaining. There is absolutely NO defence build at this important defence site. Why? Because the Commander of the site believed that the Mangrove site proved difficulty in building defence site and that by building the defence sites, it would mean that the British Force needs protection. See? Over confidence... Haiz...
The Brouchure of Bukit Chandu. The hill is around the area of Mount Faber. A great place to go with some friends to check out history...

Momunent of 3 soldiers preparing a Mortar. This was the only hardcore weapon that the Malay Regiment had at their defence site, Bukit Chandu. The only defending team at Bukit Chandu was a full platoon sized of Malays. The site of Bukit Chandu was important as it stood to be the last line of denfence to the Ammunition point of Singapore.

This is a sand model to show the cruelties of the Japanese to the Chinese and the Malays. The people at Bukit Chandu was ALL massacred. Children, women and the sick.

Lt Anan. He was the brave PC that lead his platoon to fight the Japanese at Bukit Chandu to the very last man. He was so loyal to his country that he did not take off his uniform after being threaten to do so, even after being injured severly by the Japanese.
He even had to send away his pregnant wife amongst the confusion just to join the war! Brave man... Brave soul... May his soul rest in peace.

The platoon mates goofing around with the 3 monuements shown earlier...

On the bus trip, Zhe Feng and Clarence decided to take a pic!

Then it was me and Lawrence. Sianz from the road trip...

One happy pic for the blog...

Me and Waikit. He was a crossover from ASLC. He was suppose to become a sergent by now... But he was so good, they made him an Officer Cadet!

Clarence... The current CPS (Cadet Platoon Sergent)
Before the Field Camps, me and my (current) budddy, Eric got a chance to goof around with my K700i... So we got these:

Then Eric in his No.1 uniform.

Me in my No.1 Uniform. I look tense.. Maybe its the heavy responsibilites that i will get when i am in that uniform...

The far left is my bed...

That book is my journal... Long time never update le.. Actually suppose to update it daily... haiz..
Enough of the pics i have in my bunk.. keke... Some Civilian action...
After today's Bukit Chandu and Serimbum outing, i met up with Snoz to hang out.

Me and Snoz at Sakae Sushi...

Happy woman eating away...

Happy full woman...
When we were eating Sakae Sushi, we noticed that we didn't eat much at all! I think both of us apparently forgot how to eat sushi...
humm...
Eating half way, i got to know an English woman, named Beth, that is working at New Zealand and is now at Singapore holiday-ing. I made conversation with her as she sat beside me at the sushi bar. She found the round table sushi concept VERY interesting (fun). we talked about her background and that was all. Snoz and me then made our own conversation.
We really enjoyed the Sushi dinner. Then we moved on to have a light drink at Coffee Club beside Orchard Shopping Centre.

Cool place to hang out. 24 hours. Too bad my stomach wasn't feeling well to take any drinks, so i didn't get any...
Now at home, i can get to enjoy my Jamie Cullen's "TwentySomething" and Maroon 5's "Something about Jane" albums! haha...
About the trip to Bukit Chandu, the defenders of that locality at that time were locals that lived at that area. And they stood their ground to fight to their very last end defending that last domino that was doomed to fall. It simply just points out that we as Singaporeans should always remember that point.
WE DEFEND OUR OWN GROUND.
Not some British or Australian forces.
And it is that pride and honour of the lost defenders that will give them the glory that they desire in heaven.
God bless their souls.
